Fees

Most every criminal defense attorney in Kansas will charge a flat fee as opposed to an hourly fee. The Kerns Law Office charges flat fees for most cases. Every case is different, and your criminal defense attorney will have to estimate how many hours he thinks he will need to put into your case. This flat fee includes the representation and defense of the entire case which requires attending all court appearances and defending the case from start to finish.

John W. Kerns avails himself as the client's full-time attorney, and services are only complete when the case is resolved by way of dismissal, placement on diversion, plea, or trial. Your attorney will represent you in the defense of charges in court including: attending all court appearances, obtaining legal discovery of police reports and evidence, supervising necessary investigations and reviewing results with the client, conducting all necessary legal research, filing appropriate briefs with the court, and representation at all necessary motions, conferences, and hearings. John W. Kerns will represent you at an Administrative Hearing in DUI cases, if necessary to the case.

Extra costs to the client are involved only for hiring others such as private investigators, evaluations, experts (doctors, etc.) and costs are only incurred after authorization by the client.
